Freezing canned soup is easy with thee simple steps. I like to freeze in one person sized portions as these are easier to defrost and make a nice easy lunch.

  • Before freezing, ensure any leftover canned soup is cold.
  • Pour the soup into a freezer-safe container such as a glass jar, plastic tub or freezer bag. Don’t forget to allow a little room around the top of the container for the soup to expand as it freezes. Never freeze leftover soup in the can.
  • Label and date the soup. Once frozen it might be tricky to tell what flavour it is so adding a label will help with this and the date will let you know when the soup should be used by.

Heat for 2-3 minutes on high until piping hot and give the soup a good stir halfway through cooking.
